Everton news: Mason Holgate permanent transfer update emerges
Mason Holgate is facing an uncertain future at Everton as he nears the end of his loan spell at West Brom.
Everton sent Holgate out on a year-long loan to West Brom last summer after featuring him in their Premier League opener against Brighton.
The centre-back has since been a regular for Albion, making 23 Championship appearances so far as they look to claw their way back into the Premier League.
With the 2024-25 season now in its final stretch, Holgate only has a few more weeks before his contract at The Hawthorns expires.

Holgate ‘nailed on’ to leave Everton
That means Holgate will return to Everton at the end of the season, although he will only have a few days remaining on his contract at Goodison Park by that point.
The Toffees, therefore, have a decision to make regarding the 28-year-old in the upcoming weeks, just like 13 other players whose contracts are running out this summer.

Joe Thomas has claimed that Holgate is ‘nailed on’ to leave the Merseyside-based club this summer, along with Michael Keane.
The Liverpool Echo journalist also left the door open for Jarrad Branthwaite to depart, floating the possibility of David Moyes’ side signing a new centre-back to compete with Jake O’Brien and James Tarkowski.
“I think Mason Holgate is nailed on to leave, and I think Michael Keane pretty much is as well”, Thomas said on the Royal Blue podcast (29 March).
“So, obviously, you have only got three centre-backs, and it depends on whether Jarrad Branthwaite goes or stays.
“So, you can see a scenario where they might end up looking for a fourth-choice centre-back, couldn’t they?
“This fourth choice could become a third choice if Branthwaite were to go.”
Holgate to end Goodison Park spell
Everton are facing a major upheaval this summer, with over 10 players poised to leave Moyes’ squad.
There are several first-team regulars facing uncertain futures on Merseyside and it is hard to see the Toffees handing a contract extension to Holgate in such a situation.
Therefore, the defender is likely to end his 10-year association with the Goodison Park outfit at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen where he will go next, as there are no suggestions that West Brom will look to sign him permanently either.
It would not be a surprise if Holgate is forced to join a team in the bottom half of the Championship for the time being.
