Friedkin ‘can seal statement signing’ for Everton after £20m claim

Everton have a lot of work to do on the recruitment front when the summer transfer window comes around.

With Premier League safety all but nailed on, Everton have very little left to play for this season aside from momentum.

Taking that into account, the Toffees will have one eye on the summer transfer window in order to give themselves a head start when it comes to recruiting new talent.

Everton have already been linked with several players, though there is one in particular that they need to push the boat out to secure a deal for.

Chris Rigg transfer would be huge for Everton

Over the past week, Sunderland’s Chris Rigg has been linked with a switch to Merseyside, and it is a deal that would make far too much sense for Everton to ignore.

At just 17 years old, Rigg has thrived in a senior environment on Wearside, and it seems only a matter of time until he gets a call to make it into the England squad.

Rigg has impressed for the majority of the campaign for Sunderland.

It was recently revealed to Goodison News that the bidding for Rigg would likely have to start at £20million, though it would be hard to see that figure past the £30m mark if Sunderland failed to get promoted.

Even at that price, it would be a remarkable piece of business for Everton to snap up one of England’s brightest prospects, and if there is a deal to be done this summer, it is one that they need to focus on as one of two priorities.

Everton need attacking reinforcements

As good a signing as Rigg would be, the main focus this summer will be signing a new centre forward.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future remains up in the air, while Beto’s form has regressed over the past few weeks.

If progression is to be achieved under David Moyes, a striker will be an absolute necessity for Everton in the summer, though they will be well aware of that need.
