Michael Dawson can’t believe awful Everton controversy v Arsenal — ‘Wow’

Everton drew 1-1 against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, but Michael Dawson was left stunned on Sky Sports after a controversy.

Goodison Park welcomed Mikel Arteta’s team on 5 April, with Leandro Trossard and Iliman Ndiaye finding the back of the net for their respective teams.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half before the Toffees were awarded a penalty just after the break as Jack Harrison was deemed to have been fouled.

David Moyes will be delighted to secure a point against one of the best teams in the Premier League, but question marks have been raised regarding the manner of their goal.

Everton penalty v Arsenal ‘awfully soft’ decision by Darren England

Darren England awarded an “awfully soft” penalty to the Blues in their draw against Arsenal, Dawson says.

The ex-Tottenham defender slammed the referee for pointing to the spot after Harrison went down in the box.

Dawson would’ve been shocked had such a decision been given against him during his playing days, calling it “soft”.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (5 April, 13:42), the former centre-back said: “Harrison goes down. I think it’s awfully soft. England has given it. It’s gone to VAR. If this is given against me, wow, that’s soft.”

Moyes delighted with victory at Goodison Park v Arsenal

Ndiaye returned to the starting lineup at Goodison Park, which will give the Toffees a significant boost in the final few matches of the season.

The former Olympique Marseille forward has arguably been the Blues’ best player this season, and his absence in recent matches was certainly felt.

Liverpool won the Merseyside derby at Anfield on 2 April, and it wouldn’t have been surprising to see Moyes’ team falter against the Gunners, considering the quality they possess.

Everton have regained their tenacity under the Scottish manager, and it was on show once again against the North Londoners.

While the Toffees didn’t threaten Arsenal much during the fixture, they managed to keep the visitors at bay, with Jordan Pickford pulling off some impressive saves towards the end.

Moyes has brought hope back to the Merseyside outfit, and there’s excitement about what they could potentially do next season.

The Blues are set to move to Bramley-Moore Dock for the upcoming campaign, and The Friedkin Group (TFG) must surely back the Scotsman in the transfer window after what he’s done.
