John Aldridge makes Everton admission after what David Moyes did to Liverpool
John Aldridge has not shied away from tipping his hat to Everton despite Liverpool beating them at Anfield on Wednesday.
Liverpool earned the bragging rights in the latest iteration of the Merseyside derby when the two sides locked horns at Anfield on 2 April, with Diogo Jota’s sole goal proving to be the winner.
However, Everton went on to hold Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in their following match, while the Reds succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against Fulham on Sunday (6 April).
The Merseyside rivals have contrasting fortunes this season, with the Anfield outfit marching towards the title, whereas David Moyes and Co. have had to fight hard to avoid relegation.

Aldridge admits Moyes made Liverpool look poor at Anfield
Liverpool are 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with only six games left to play, but that has not been enough to convince Aldridge.
The Reds icon has been particularly concerned about the team’s recent run of form, having lost to PSG and Newcastle in the UEFA Champions League last-16 and the EFL Cup final, respectively, in their last four matches.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
1. Liverpool | 31 | 22 | 7 | 2 | 42 | 73 |
15. Everton | 31 | 7 | 14 | 10 | -5 | 35 |
Liverpool’s only win in their last four outings came against Everton at Anfield, but they were still made to look poor by Moyes’ side, according to Aldridge.
The Anfield legend went on to tip his hat to Moyes for making the Goodison Park outfit a “handful” for opponents to break down.
“They [Liverpool] have no zip in their game right now and are just trying to get across the line in the title race, even if it’s not pretty at the moment”, Aldridge wrote in his column on the Sunday World website (6 April).
“I would give some credit to Everton for making Liverpool look poor on Wednesday night.
“Credit to David Moyes, he has them set up so well and are a handful for any team to break down.”

Everton look strong under Moyes
Hiring Moyes to replace Sean Dyche was one of the first big decisions the Friedkin Group made since buying Everton from Farhad Moshiri in December.
The move has clearly paid off, with the Scot pulling the Merseyside-based club away from the relegation zone.
The Toffees are now placed 15th in the Premier League table, with 15 points separating them from the danger zone.
Everton only need four more points to ensure their place in the top-flight next season, which means they are increasingly likely to begin the new era at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium as a Premier League club.
