Premier League announcement ahead of Brighton game ‘dreadful for Everton’
Everton have been handed a dreadful piece of news ahead of their upcoming Premier League game against Brighton on Saturday.
The Toffees will be looking to pick up their first victory since club football returned after the international break, with David Moyes’ men going two games without one.
The Merseyside giants have had a tough run during that period, facing both of the teams in the Premier League title race – Liverpool and Arsenal.
Even without picking up a win they have given good accounts of themselves, only losing by a goal to nil against Arne Slot’s men, while Everton picked up a point against the Gunners.
The Toffees earned an important point in one of their final games at Goodison Park, and they will be aiming to take the momentum from that into their upcoming fixture against Brighton.

Everton could be negatively impacted by Premier League’s decision
While the Toffees should have plenty of belief ahead of facing the Seagulls, they have been handed a dreadful refereeing appointment in the form of Craig Pawson.
Pawson was involved in a controversial game between Everton and Newcastle United back in October, where the two teams battled out a goalless draw.
However, Everton should have been awarded a penalty after Dan Burn brought down Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Pawson opted not to give it.
League Table | Games Played | Won | Lost | Points |
15. Everton | 31 | 7 | 14 | 35 |
He was relegated to being a fourth official the following weekend, despite PGMOL chief Howard Webb having defended the decision.
Pawson has only refereed Everton once since that match as he has seemingly been kept away from the Toffees, and fans won’t be pleased to hear he is back involved in their game this weekend.

Everton will be focused on climbing Premier League table
Even though the referee appointment is a disappointing one from an Everton perspective, there’s no doubt that the team will be focused on the game itself for matchweek 32.
The Toffees have had a great run under Moyes as his sensational return has led to them pulling away from the relegation zone, which was the primary reason he was brought back to Merseyside.
However, the focus for the final run of games will now be to climb the league table and finish in the best possible position, with the Toffees currently 15th.
