Dominic Calvert-Lewin may never play for Everton again after major update

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract runs out at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has been the first choice forward this campaign, but has been out of action in recent weeks due to an injury.

There have been no concrete updates about him committing his future to the Merseyside outfit going into the transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin not expected to return from injury for a few more weeks

While a specific return date has not been proved, the English forward is still expected to be out for a few more weeks.

As he’s been absent since January, it is a pretty serious injury that’s not recovered as the Toffees physios would’ve wanted it to.

Any setbacks in his rehab would complicate things further and increase the time he has to spend on the sidelines.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison NewsDr Rajpal Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Calvert-Lewin: “This sounds like a Grade 3 hamstring injury, but based on the comments from Moyes, it sounds like his rehab has been slower than anticipated.

Difficult to say where he is in the rehab except that he isn’t where the club expected him to be.

Subsequently, hard to tell when he might be close to 100 per cent but will require a consistent run of matches.

He still appears to be ruled out for a few more weeks.

Everton fans may not see Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park again

If Calvert-Lewin isn’t fit by May, his Everton career could end without another Goodison Park appearance.

The Toffees’ May fixtures include just two home games, against Ipswich Town and Southampton, before the season ends.

With his contract expiring in June, a failure to recover from his current month-long injury and secure an extension means he might miss these matches, potentially his last at Goodison.

Calvert-Lewin’s injury-hit season already jeopardises his case for renewal, and missing May’s games could seal his exit.

Even if he signs a new deal but remains sidelined, Everton’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock for the 2025-26 season means his next home game wouldn’t be at Goodison anyway.

Time is ticking for the striker to prove his worth or bid farewell to the historic ground forever.
