Everton ‘get Liam Delap transfer answer’ in major Fabrizio Romano update

Everton are keen on strengthening their attack in the summer transfer window and have already been linked with several players.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks likely to leave, and his potential exit would leave Everton light in attacking depth.

Beto has impressed this season, and could continue leading the line, but an alternative option would help take Everton up a level in attack.

Ipswich Town star Liam Delap has been linked with a move to Everton, but this move is now highly unlikely for a key reason.

Everton to miss out on Delap transfer

Delap has been outstanding in a struggling Ipswich side this season, and the 22-year-old clearly has a bright future ahead of him.

However, his future will almost certainly not be at Everton, as Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Chelsea and Manchester United are the two leading contenders to sign him.

“It’s between Man United and Chelsea now, both keen on signing the player. They’re ahead of Bundesliga clubs,” Romano told GIVEMESPORT (14 April).

Given the interest in Delap from other clubs, and some potentially competing in Europe, he is unlikely to snub them to join Everton, but he may actually benefit more if he does move to the Toffees.

Delap would benefit from Everton transfer over Man United

Everton are currently above Man United in the Premier League table, with Ruben Amorim’s side enduring a disastrous season across all competitions.

United have signed several strikers in recent years, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee joining in back-to-back summers, but both have regressed despite impressing before.

If Delap were to move to Everton instead, he may get more game time, with less pressure at a young age, and he would be playing in a more stable environment under David Moyes.

The Englishman would be a marquee signing as Everton move into Bramley-Moore Dock, and this would be a better move in the long run than potentially struggling at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have Nicolas Jackson as their main starting striker, and while Delap would likely be playing in European competition next season, he would be joining a club where a lot of talented attackers have struggled in recent years.

From Everton’s perspective, it is clear Moyes wants to be backed in the summer with a new striker undoubtedly top of his list, and this latest update will not go down well with the Scotsman.
