Calvert-Lewin deal to Newcastle on the cards amid St James’ Park exit news

Alexander Isak could hold the keys to Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s potential move to Newcastle United this summer.

David Moyes has hardly been able to call on Calvert-Lewin since he returned to Goodison Park.

The striker is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, and considering his contract with the Toffees expires at the end of the season, there is a chance that Calvert-Lewin has already played his final game for Everton.

It looks as though Moyes’ side are already preparing for Calvert-Lewin’s departure.

However, in terms of the 28-year-old’s next destination, it appears as though a potential move to Newcastle could hinge on what happens with Isak amid St James’ Park exit news.

As reported by the Chronicle (11 April), Calvert-Lewin’s representatives have touched base with Newcastle.

However, Calvert-Lewin could struggle for regular minutes at St James’ Park if Isak remains at the club.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen on the Swede, who Howe wants to keep hold of [TEAMtalk]. Therefore, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Newcastle’s move for Calvert-Lewin will depend on what happens with Isak.

“It will be interesting to see what happens to Isak,” King said.

“We’ve seen Anthony Gordon move to Newcastle from Everton. Therefore, I couldn’t see Calvert-Lewin moving there being a problem.

“However, I think this will revolve around Isak, and whether he goes or stays.”

Calvert-Lewin will want a decision about his future

If a move to Newcastle isn’t on the cards, and Everton are prepared to offer the forward a new deal, Calvert-Lewin might prefer to remain with the Toffees.

However, time is running out, and the Everton number nine will be keen to resolve his future, which at present is rather uncertain. Therefore, it looks as though various discussions need to be held in the coming weeks.
