Man City early team news v Everton: Ederson blow, forward to return

Everton face Manchester City on Saturday looking to spring another upset.

David Moyes‘ side defeated Champions League chasing Nottingham Forest (12 April) with a late Adoulaye Doucoure strike proving to be the difference.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have been struggling this season compared to their usual standards but they are still heavy favourites for the Goodison Park clash (19 April).

However, the Blues’ task may have been made easier after the latest injury news emerged from the Etihad Stadium.

Man City suffer Ederson blow for Everton clash

The Citizens have been handed a 47.8 per cent chance of beating Everton by the Opta supercomputer.

However, their chances of taking a big step towards qualifying for Europe’s elite competition may have taken a hit with the latest update on goalkeeper Ederson ahead of the contest.

The Brazilian star was forced off against Crystal Palace with a groin injury and is unlikely to make the trip to Merseyside, according to the Manchester Evening News (15 April).

The report also claims that Phil Foden could return for the clash after missing the 5-2 win over the Eagles with a knock that he picked up against Manchester United.

Erling Haaland is expected to be the only attacker who is sidelined for the defending champions on Saturday.

Everton can take advantage of City injury woes

The Toffees will fancy their chances of taking a positive result after the latest update.

Moyes’ side have lost just one league match in their 12 in a sensational turnaround under the Scotsman, while Guardiola’s side have not been the same relentless machine that English football has come to fear.

The Blues have enjoyed their football recently.

The fact that one of the best goalkeepers in world football is set to miss the contest is a major boost for the Blues and they can take advantage of Stefan Ortega being between the sticks and continue the revival.

The loss of Haaland is also a big positive for the hosts, as on his day, he is arguably the most dangerous attacker in the world but the likes of Omar Marmoush and Foden are still very good and will need to be defended well.

The Blues need to keep up their momentum ahead of the move to Bramley-Moore Dock and they will feel like they can do exactly that after the latest update.
