Everton injury news: Dominic Calvert-Lewin return twist emerges

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is having a rough go with regards to his hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his being behind schedule only makes it that much more important for the physios to be more cautious with his return to first-team football.

The Blues just have five more games left in the Premier League campaign.

Calvert-Lewin may not play 90 minutes again this season

The England international is currently facing issues recovering from his hamstring injury.

He has been out of action since the 1-0 win against Brighton on 25 January and still seems some way away from a return.

There is a possibility that he does not return before the end of the month as well as he’s not yet back in training.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison NewsDr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Calvert-Lewin: “He’s had a rough go of it with his hamstring injury, with the manager mentioning multiple times that Calvert-Lewin is behind the recovery schedule, so they likely want to be even more methodical and cautious with his progression through training.

As for a full 90, I wouldn’t anticipate that until he’s had at least three bounce matches with a good chunk of minutes in each and no issues afterwards.

Given where we are in the season, it’s likely that it does not happen again.

Calvert-Lewin may not start for Everton again

Given the assessment of his current situation, it is plausible that the 28-year-old will not start for the Toffees again.

His contract at Goodison Park runs out at the end of the season and he appears set to leave, with Newcastle understood to be keen on securing his services.

Thus far, no agreement has been reached, but an exit seems likelier than him signing a new contract.

Given that there are only a handful of games left, he may never start another game for Everton as he still appears to be recovering from a hamstring injury.
