Everton are closing in on securing the signing of a defender ahead of the summer transfer window even opening.
David Moyes has successfully navigated the Toffees away from the Premier League relegation zone since making his sensational return to the club, and he is ready to be rewarded for that in the summer transfer window.
The experienced manager is currently operating with a squad of players that he did not sign, with this very much being a Sean Dyche squad.
Moyes has managed to get the best out of them to this point, but he is now keen to bring in some additions and put his own stamp on the team during the summer ahead of what promises to be a significant season for the Merseyside giants.
Everton are moving stadiums in the summer, and that is going to bring a great deal of pressure on Moyes and his squad, but he’s already working on putting that together.

Everton are pushing for a new signing
Everton’s owners are expected to financially back Moyes during the summer transfer window, as long as the spending is within budget and PSR.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News (21 April), the Merseyside giants are closing in on a deal to sign Hearts teenager John Dodds in the summer window.
The 16-year-old has been watched by various teams in Scotland and England due to his impressive performances, which have seen his reputation grow.

It is believed that he is set to make the move south of the border ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, and he will join the Everton Under-18s squad at the start before progressing into the first team.

Everton are aiming to build away from the relegation zone
It has been a difficult few seasons for the Toffees as they have been struggling in the depths of the Premier League, fighting against relegation under various managers, from Frank Lampard to Sean Dyche.
However, under Moyes the intention is for Everton to start progressing up the table and returning to the former glory that they enjoyed during his first stint with the club.
Bringing in some fresh faces is going to be a key part of that, with Moyes wanting to focus on signing young talents who he can grow and develop.
