Tarkowski sends six-word message to Everton fans after season-ending injury news

James Tarkowski has sent a message to Everton fans following confirmation he is set to miss the rest of the season.

David Moyes confirmed that the defender’s season is over ahead of the Toffees’ trip to Chelsea on Saturday (26 April).

Tarkowski has remained a key figure for Everton this campaign, starting in all 33 of their Premier League fixtures.

As a result of his major setback, the Englishman will never play at the Toffees’ iconic Goodison Park again, ahead of next season’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

The 32-year-old’s most memorable moment of the campaign arrived on 12 February, when he fired home a late equaliser in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool in Goodison’s final Merseyside Derby.

After suffering his major injury setback, Tarkowski wrote on his Instagram story [25 April]: “See you all at Bramley Moore.”

The former Burnley man has been one of Everton’s best defenders since joining from Turf Moor in the summer of 2022.

Tarkowski’s injury will give Moyes a headache

There is no doubt that Tarkowski would have been named in Moyes’ starting 11 for the Toffees’ trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday if he hadn’t suffered an injury.

Tarkowski is a key man for Everton

The two-cap England international was ever-present for Everton in the Premier League this season, while the Blues’ defensive record has been strong since Moyes returned to the Goodison Park dugout.

Now that Tarkowski is set to be absent, the Blues boss must choose between slotting soon-to-be out-of-contract Michael Keane back into central defence or moving Jake O’Brien across from full-back.

Keane has not started for the Toffees since Moyes took the managerial reins from former boss Sean Dyche, while O’Brien has established himself as a strong right-back.

Everton’s trip to Chelsea already seemed a relatively tricky task, as Enzo Maresca’s men are chasing a Champions League spot at the business end of the season, whereas the Merseyside club have nothing but pride left to play for.
