Andy Gray and Richard Keys spot something ‘Extraordinary’ in Chelsea win v Everton

Everton suffered their 12th defeat of the Premier League season as they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Nicolas Jackson’s first-half strike proved enough to hand the Toffees their second consecutive defeat.

David Moyes’ men had to cope without the services of captain James Tarkowski, who has suffered a season-ending injury.

The Toffees will hope to bounce back from their setback when they host Ipswich Town at Goodison Park next Saturday.

Andy Gray and Richard Keys were left stunned by Chelsea’s kit

After falling to defeat at Stamford Bridge, Everton are yet to beat the West Londoners since their 2-0 win in December 2023.

But it was not something that happened on the field that left Richard Keys and Andy Gray bemused during this latest contest.

Speaking on beIN Sports (26 April, 1:30pm) as the sides came back down the tunnel for the second half, Keys said: “Isn’t it amazing [Chelsea] don’t have a front-of-shirt sponsor?”

Former Everton player Gray replied: “Yeah, it’s extraordinary.”

Everton should bounce back from Chelsea defeat

The Toffees faithful will still be grateful that Moyes has steered the Merseyside outfit away from their previous relegation worries and secured their Premier League status.

Everton will be eager to get back to winning ways

However, the Blues have now endured back-to-back defeats for the first time since the Scot took the managerial reins from former boss Sean Dyche.

Everton will be anxious to give Goodison Park the strong send-off it deserves before relocating to Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

The Toffees will fancy their chances of beating both Ipswich and Southampton in each of their last two home games, while both the Tractor Boys and the Saints are destined for a Championship return.

If the Blues can return to the sort of performances they displayed when they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on 12 April and held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw on 5 April, Moyes’ men will be set to enjoy a positive end to the campaign.

Earning a win over Southampton on their final home game of the season would be particularly poignant for Everton, as they wave goodbye to Goodison Park.
