David Moyes blasted for what he did to Everton ace after Chelsea loss – ‘Absurd’

David Moyes has been put on a spot after Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.

A first-half goal from Nicolas Jackson saw Chelsea claim all three points against Everton at Stamford Bridge on 26 April, with David Moyes’ side struggling to test Robert Sanchez.

With that, the Toffees have now lost two consecutive games for the first time since Moyes returned as their manager in January.

The Goodison Park outfit will feel hard done by, as Richard Keys believe they should have been awarded a penalty after Sanchez clattered into Vitalii Mykolenko in the penalty area in the first half.

Moyes slammed in ‘ridiculous’ Carlos Alcaraz claim

While Everton fans will not be too bothered by the result, as the Toffees still sit 14th in the Premier League, Moyes is already facing questions elsewhere.

Reacting to the Merseyside-based club’s defeat against Chelsea, Eduardo Burgos described Moyes’ treatment of Carlos Alcaraz as ‘absurd’.

The journalist, who has constantly reported on Alcaraz’s loan-to-buy transfer to Goodison Park, is baffled to see the midfielder being left out of the starting lineup.

He pointed out how Alcaraz ‘changed the face’ of Everton after coming on as a substitute against Chelsea before dubbing his situation on Merseyside as ‘ridiculous’.

“What David Moyes is doing with ‘Charly’ Alcaraz is absurd”, Burgos wrote on his personal X handle (26 April).

“He starts one day and is a substitute the next, but he changed the face of the team when he came on in the second half [against Chelsea].

“Everton have a purchase option, which may be mandatory, but it’s ridiculous considering the talent they have in front of them.”

Everton have bought Alcaraz

Everton agreed to make Alcaraz’s move permanent when he made a certain number of appearances when they signed him on loan from Flamengo in the winter transfer window.

There have been varying reports about when the clause will be triggered, but the deal is said to have already gone through, according to Germain Gracia Grova.

Everton have acquired Alcaraz’s services for £15million, meaning there is no reason for Moyes to not start the Argentinian if needed.

The Scottish tactician has the Toffees’ best interests in mind and would certainly name the 22-year-old in his starting line-up if he deemed it right.

Therefore, any criticism aimed at the veteran for his treatment of Alcaraz is rather over the top.
