Friedkins ‘to hand deliver Moyes perfect gift’ amid Lamptey to Everton update

Everton could make a big move for Brighton and Hove Albion ace Tariq Lamptey in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite a poor start to the 2024/25 campaign, David Moyes has now steadied the ship at Everton.

With the Toffees eventually surviving the drop comfortably, there is now an expectation that the Scotsman should start pushing the club up the table next season.

Signings will no doubt be needed to achieve this feat, and the Friedkins can hand deliver Moyes his perfect summer signing amid news emerging from abroad.

Lamptey to Everton perfect move to solve ongoing right-back issues

While Everton have many problems with their squad, one position that is in urgent need of an upgrade is at right-back

Jake O’Brien has filled this position for the majority of the season, but the Irish international is naturally a centre-back.

However, after James Tarkowski’s hamstring injury, O’Brien was placed back at centre-back with forgotten man Nathan Patterson returning to the starting XI.

This forced change was proof of how fragile Everton’s backline is, with Patterson no longer possessing the ability to play in the Premier League.

Therefore, a right-back is essential in the summer, and the Toffees may have now found their man.

According to AfricaFoot (24 April), Everton are now the favourites alongside Ajax to sign Lamptey from Brighton.

Appearances 102
Goals 3
Assists 9
Clean sheets 6
Lamptey has been a regular in Brighton’s team for many years

The Ghanaian international has made over 100 appearances for the Seagulls as they rose up the Premier League table.

At just 24 years of age, Lamptey could be the perfect player to lock down this position long-term for the Toffees and help solve their issues at right-back once and for all.

Lamptey signing would help O’Brien shine for Everton

It is no secret that O’Brien has been excellent since Moyes joined Everton. The Irishman had struggled under Sean Dyche and rarely played.

However, as a right-back in Moyes’ system, the 23-year-old has shone and become one of the club’s best players.

Now, if the club can secure the signing of Lamptey, it will give more responsibility to O’Brien as he will likely be pushed to centre-back.

In his natural position, the Irishman can finally reach his potential in a Toffees shirt and help the club push up the table.
