Everton ‘can seal’ Tariq Lamptey transfer with decision made

Everton are reportedly keen on signing Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey in the summer transfer window.

The Ghana international has been at the AmEx Stadium since 2019 and has amassed over 100 appearances for the Seagulls.

His contract runs out at the end of the season and it seems like he will be leaving on a free transfer.

Lamptey appears to be keen on Ajax move

Africa Foot reported on 24 April that the right-back is on the radar of a number of European clubs this summer.

Along with the Toffees, Ajax are understood to be very keen on securing his services and are likely to emerge as frontrunners in the race.

He has been offered a four-year contract by the Dutch club, who are also giving him a significantly higher salary package than he’s earning currently on the south coast.

It’s understood that he has chosen to join Ajax over Everton, but a deal has not yet been finalised.

Everton can still look to hijack the Lamptey transfer

Everton can still hijack Lamptey’s potential move to Ajax by leveraging their Premier League status and crafting a compelling offer to sway the Brighton right-back.

With the 24-year-old’s contract expiring, the Toffees can present a competitive financial package, potentially matching or exceeding Ajax’s four-year deal and higher salary, given the Premier League’s lucrative revenue streams.

Lamptey has been a regular in Brighton’s team for many years

Highlighting the opportunity to remain in England’s top flight, where Lamptey has already made over 100 appearances for Brighton, could appeal to his familiarity and ambition to compete at a high level.

Everton can emphasise their storied history, passionate fanbase, and the chance to be a key starter under David Moyes, who values dynamic full-backs.

Offering a clear pathway to regular minutes, especially with ageing or inconsistent options like Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, could be a persuasive factor.

Additionally, the Merseyside outfit could sweeten the deal with performance-based bonuses or a longer contract for stability.

By engaging the full-back’s representatives swiftly and showcasing a vision for his role in a revitalised squad and a new stadium, Everton can exploit the fact that no deal with Ajax is finalised, positioning themselves as a more attractive destination before the transfer window closes.
