Paul Merson amazed by ‘brilliant’ moment in Everton v Ipswich Town

Beto left Paul Merson delighted after Everton took the lead against Ipswich Town in the Premier League at Goodison Park on Saturday.

David Moyes’ team hosts Kieran McKenna’s side on 3 May, with both teams playing for pride in the season’s final games.

The Toffees are safe from relegation, but will want to get positive results in the season’s final few games, and the Tractor Boys are already relegated from the top flight.

Beto scored for the hosts in the 26th minute as they continued to threaten Alex Palmer in goal throughout the first half, with Dwight McNeil adding a second, before Julio Enciso scored a stunner, making the score 2-1 at the break.

Beto scores brilliant header for Everton v Ipswich

Beto’s header to give the Merseyside outfit the lead was brilliant, Merson says.

The ex-Arsenal attacker was left amazed by the Guinea-Bissau international’s goal against McKenna’s team at Goodison Park.

Merson feels the Blues deserved to find the back of the net as they were the better side up until that point.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (3 May, 15:29), the former forward said: “It’s a glancing header into the far corner, a brilliant header. It is thoroughly deserved, Everton have been much the better team.”

Moyes will hope for positive end at Goodison Park

Moyes is taking charge of the final games at Goodison Park as the Toffees are set to move to Bramley-Moore Dock from next season.

The Blues have two more games left at the historic stadium before the end of the campaign against Southampton and Bournemouth.

Supporters are behind the Scottish manager as he’s managed to turn the tide immediately since replacing Sean Dyche, keeping the Merseysiders safe from relegation.

Everton need The Friedkin Group (TFG) to back the 62-year-old head coach in the upcoming transfer window.

The end of the current campaign will be an emotional one for the Goodison Park faithful, and Moyes will undoubtedly want to give them a perfect farewell.

Ipswich have already been relegated from the Premier League, but some of their players will arguably be playing to showcase their qualities to interested top-flight teams.

Delap is someone Moyes wants to see at Bramley-Moore Dock, but for now, he’ll want the Blues to keep him quiet in the second half.
