Peter Reid makes new Liverpool jibe as he passes Anfield in Everton chat
Everton host Ipswich Town in their penultimate home game at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Toffees supporters group The 1878s are set to mark the occasion with an impressive display as they bid a fond farewell to their iconic stadium.
Everton will hope to win both of their last two games at Goodison, as they host already relegated Ipswich on Saturday, before facing bottom side Southampton on 18 May.
But before moving to their much-loved home, the Toffees were previously based at Anfield, where Merseyside rivals Liverpool have been based since 1892.

Reid aims dig at Liverpool
Toffees legend Peter Reid and fellow Evertonian Tony Bellew, who is a former professional boxer, featured on Saturday’s episode of BBC One’s Football Focus (3 May) driving past Anfield.
The pair filmed themselves singing “We’re forever Everton” before Reid joked: “We’ll get battered singing that. I think it’s nice going past our old ground. They’ve done alright haven’t they?”
Everton simply have to beat Ipswich at Goodison
While Saturday is not Everton’s last game at Goodison Park, their penultimate home game of the season against Ipswich will be an emotional occasion for David Moyes’ men.
Opponent | Result |
Nottingham Forest (A) | 0-1 W |
Manchester City (H) | 0-2 L |
Chelsea (A) | 1-0 L |
The Toffees faithful will be eager to see their side beat Kieran McKenna’s men, a feat that the Blues should be able to achieve.
An already relegated Tractor Boys outfit have failed to win since their 2-1 win at Bournemouth on 2 April, while Moyes’ side should be eager to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Champions League chasers Manchester City and Chelsea.
Last time out against Ipswich, the Toffees earned a 2-0 win at Portman Road and will be vying for more of the same at Goodison Park on this occasion.
Everton should have enough quality at their disposal to beat Ipswich if they can perform at the level they showed in their draw with Arsenal and win over Nottingham Forest last month.
