David Moyes reveals message to Everton players ahead of Goodison Park finale
Everton are braced for their final game at Goodison Park, which will end their 132-year stay at their famous home.
David Moyes’ side will face the already relegated Southampton on 18 May in what looks set to be an emotional affair in the North West.
The Toffees will want to go out with a bang before moving to their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock for the 2025/26 campaign.

Moyes sends rallying cry to Everton players
Everton were a club in crisis prior to Moyes’ return as manager in January and have been on an emphatic run of form ever since.
Since his arrival, the North West club have picked up 25 points from 18 matches and are well clear of the relegation zone.
Matches | Won | Drawn | Lost | Points-per-match |
18 | 6 | 7 | 5 | 1.39 |
Not only has the Scot made the Toffees a difficult side to beat, but he has made them an attacking threat in the process.
Ahead of their final game at Goodison, Moyes said via Mirror Sport (pg 12, 12 May), the message he has shared with his squad.
He said, “I won’t want to go out with anything but a win.
“I’ve told the players it’s maybe the biggest game of the season for us next weekend. And we’re going to be watched by great players, great managers. People who are far better than any of us, who have graced it.
“So we’ve got to put a show on and we’ve got to try and show that we can play well.”

Several players primed for final game at Goodison
While Moyes should be proud of what he has achieved since returning to Everton, he has work to do to make them a real force.
Several players have been linked with moves away from the Merseyside club, with Leeds United keen on signing Beto after securing promotion to the Premier League.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set to depart Goodison as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, with big changes coming.
The long-serving striker has often been linked with an exit during his injury-hit career, with Wolves one of several clubs interested in his services.
Jarrad Branthwaite has long been linked with a move away from the North West, but it would take a substantial bid for the Toffees to depart with their prized asset.
With a host of players set for their final games at Goodison, Moyes must ensure he brings in quality to push Everton up the table next season.
For now, it’s all about winning this final game on what will be a hugely-emotional afternoon.
