Everton work behind the scenes on right-winger signing after Bakayoko news
Everton have had a right-winger towards the top of their list of transfer priorities since the start of the summer.
The Toffees leaned heavily on Leeds loanee Jack Harrison to operate on the right flank for large parts of the 2024/25 campaign, but with the 28-year-old having returned to his parent club at the end of the season, another option is now needed.
Everton are considering the option of signing Harrison on a permanent basis, but their desire to add on the flanks has taken a back seat while other deals are concluded.
Mark Travers became the second new face to step through the door at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, as David Moyes appears to have successfully shored up another area of concern.

Everton continue behind the scenes work after Bakayoko joins Leipzig
One of Everton’s main options on the right wing this summer was Johan Bakayoko.
The Belgian has had a hugely impressive spell with PSV Eindhoven, which prompted interest from countless clubs, but it is RB Leipzig who have now won the race to sign the 22-year-old.
However, it is understood that the Toffees are still continuing to work behind the scenes to sign a right-winger, according to The Athletic (18 July).
It is thought that the market for widemen is proving to be a challenging one for clubs like Everton this summer, and the Toffees may be left to take whatever option comes their way in that regard.
At the moment, it has been easier for Moyes and Co. to secure deals for the likes of Travers, rather than to tie down a key target on the right.

Everton must keep Harrison in mind
Everton’s pursuit of Bakayoko has ultimately fallen by the wayside, and if the market for wingers continues to provide issues for them as the new campaign draws ever closer, they must keep Harrison in mind.
He has fallen out of favour at Leeds, having spent the last two seasons on loan at Goodison Park, and is understood to be keen on the idea of making the switch to Merseyside permanently.

Harrison may not be the most glamorous addition, but he is someone who already knows what it takes to play within a Moyes side, and he can still be effective at Premier League level on his day.
It may not be the big-money arrival that some people will have had in mind, but it could allow Moyes to effectively cover a problem area, and then leave money to be reinvested elsewhere.
