David Moyes could lose out on ‘superstar’ as Atletico Madrid enter the race for Everton target
Everton have already made a marquee signing out wide this summer, but could be set to miss out on one of their other targets.
Whilst Jack Grealish is a quality addition who could either be deployed out on the left or as a number ten by David Moyes, their right-hand side still needs to be addressed.
Tyler Dibling is one of those players who has been linked with a move to Merseyside, with the teenager being able to fill this void out wide.
Equally, Takefusa Kubo has also been mentioned as a possible option for Everton squad, but the Japanese international has reportedly attracted the interest of another club.

Atletico Madrid interested in securing Kubo‘s services
If TFG can secure the Real Sociedad winger’s signature, it would be a phenomenal piece of business.
Kubo would be the answer to Everton’s troubles down the right flank, as they were forced to deploy Jack Harrison there at points last season.
However, according to reports from Marca on 14 August, Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the 24-year-old.
Notable names such as Antoine Griezmann have made the move from Sociedad to Atletico in the past, with the two clubs developing a positive relationship when it comes to conducting business.
With reports suggesting Kubo could cost Everton around £34.6million, he would be a remarkably cheaper alternative than Dibling and arguably the better overall signing.

Endo tipped Kubo to replace Salah at Liverpool
For all the hype that Dibling garnered last season, Kubo has been a notable name for multiple years now after having three impressive seasons in La Liga for Soicedad.
Kubo’s stats across his three La Liga seasons at Real Sociedad:
- 2022/23 season – nine goals, four assists
- 2023/24 season – seven goals, four assists
- 2024/25 season – five goals, no assists
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Kubo as recently as last summer, with his international teammate Wataru Endo labelling him as a “future superstar” and someone who could potentially replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, according to Squawka.
Given his reputation, Everton should go all in for Kubo, who is a far more proven and cheaper option when compared to Dibling from Southampton.
