Everton set for hefty windfall after confirmed £7.5m deal, Kevin Thelwell to thank

Everton’s transfer kitty is set to be given a welcome boost thanks to some business conducted by Kevin Thelwell during his time on Merseyside.

Thelwell’s exit from Everton was announced in March and he has since taken on a similar behind-the-scenes role at Scottish heavyweights Rangers.

While Thelwell’s transfer record overall at Goodison Park was underwhelming, he did conduct some positive business, too.

And one such piece of business is now set to land Everton an instant seven-figure payment.

Everton included sell-on clause in Nathan Broadhead deal

The payment heading Everton’s way is not down to a sale they themselves conducted, but rather Ipswich Town’s decision to sell Nathan Broadhead to Wrexham.

The Welsh side have paid a club-record £7.5million for Broadhead, potentially rising to £10m when add-ons are included.

As reported by Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas on X (16 August), Everton “had a pretty hefty sell-on clause” in the deal that took Broadhead to Ipswich, which was signed off by Thelwell.

Thomas adds that Everton are “in line for a sizeable windfall”, which is expected to be in the region of £1.2million.

Which players could Everton spend welcome funds on?

While £1.2m in itself is not a mammoth fee, every little helps and that can be instantly invested back into strengthening David Moyes’ squad.

With Carlos Alcaraz joined by Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tom King and of course Jack Grealish in joining Everton, Moyes will still be after more faces.

Everton confirmed deals this summer:

Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma continues to be linked with a move to Everton, while Tyrese Campbell is another who is being eyed at Sheffield United.

Fingers crossed more new faces will arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before the summer transfer window closes, with the Broadhead sell-on funds helping to contribute towards that.
