Everton are remaining active in the transfer market with just days to go before it closes.

David Moyes has made it clear that he wants new additions at Everton in the wake of their 1-0 defeat to Leeds on Monday.

Now, the Toffees are eyeing a move for Karl Etta Eyong, who has burst onto the scene in La Liga.

On Friday, the transfer saga surrounding the 21-year-old developed once more and in Moyes’ favour.

Everton contact Villarreal over Karl Etta Eyong move

Everton have been pursuing a striker this August, with the Toffees looking light up top.

Moyes was not pleased with Beto’s performances for Everton in pre-season, which has brought into question the role that he may have in the team this campaign.

As a result, according to El Chiringuito TV via X on 22 August, Everton have now made contact with Villarreal over a move for Eyong.

The forward joined the Spanish side last year, showing his ruthlessness for the B team, before earning his debut late in the 2024/25 campaign for the first team.

The report states that while the 21-year-old wants to stay at Villarreal, if he is told that he won’t play, he wouldn’t be opposed to a move to the Premier League

Beto to be sold by Everton?

If Eyong does move to the Toffees, it will surely be the end of Beto’s time at Everton.

The striker is already behind Thierno Barry in the pecking order, and Eyong would likely overtake him as well.

Therefore, the 27-year-old may push for a move before the window is out rather than be a third-choice striker.

Moyes may also be willing to sanction this, given his comments about the striker in pre-season.
