Jack Grealish has already done something at Everton that he only managed once at Man City

Jack Grealish produced a phenomenal performance as Everton secured an impressive victory in the Hill Dickinson stadium curtain-raiser.

Everton secured the loan signing of Grealish from Manchester City earlier in August, seeing the 29-year-old as someone capable of producing magic.

Grealish was introduced off the bench against Leeds United and showed glimpses of his quality before rolling back the years in Everton’s 2-0 win over Brighton.

It was his drilled left-footed cross for Iliman Ndiaye that sent the Toffees on their way to three points before teeing up James Garner for his screamer, with the Englishman proving his class.

Jack Grealish equals Manchester City record at Everton

Jamie Carragher crowned Grealish Man of the Match against Brighton after watching him dominate right-back Mats Wieffer across 90 minutes.

Everton fans dreamed of watching performances like that from the former Aston Villa star, who was allowed to express himself down the left flank.

The flair and creativity he possesses were coached out of him by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he was surrounded by superstars.

Jack Grealish’s stats vs Brighton
94 minutes played
2 assists
29/35 passes completed (83%)
3 key passes
5 ground duels won

But despite only making his second appearance at Everton, Grealish has already equalled a feat he achieved at City.

As highlighted by Sky Sports, the Englishman’s two assists in one game against Brighton were something he only managed once in four years at the Etihad.

Already, he’s making a massive impact at Everton as he aims to break back into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

What convinced Jack Grealish to join Everton

Grealish knew he had to leave Man City for pastures new this summer, seeing a switch to Everton as an opportunity to express himself.

Moyes is someone who has already handed him that privilege, and after assisting twice against Brighton, the winger revealed it was a FaceTime call with the manager that persuaded him to join.

“It was massive, our first game in the new stadium we wanted to put on a show. We did that. Playing against Brighton is a tough game so we’re happy to get a win,” Grealish said.

“I absolutely loved my time at Man City but this summer felt it was right for a change and as soon as I spoke to David Moyes on Facetime I knew I wanted to come. There’s lots of reasons why I wanted to come here and today showed why.”

Everton now travel to Wolves next weekend in their next Premier League game and their final one before the international break.
