Everton could be about to step up their pursuit of Karl Etta Eyong following a significant development regarding his future.
The Toffees have had a positive summer transfer window, with eight new additions so far, but David Moyes will still be keen to get more new faces through the door before Monday’s deadline.
Etta Eyong has emerged as a target for Everton in recent days, and they have already made contact with Villarreal over a move for the 21-year-old.

The Spanish outlet reports that Etta Eyong could be available at a “bargain price” if Villarreal cannot quickly secure a new contract, and Barcelona are now keen to sign him and loan him out.
Everton will now know that they must go all out for the Cameroonian if they are serious about securing his signature, as they will surely only be able to gazump the Catalan giants if they can strike an extremely swift deal.

Moyes still wants further additions at Everton, and a new striker would certainly be a useful option.
Etta Eyong is still very inexperienced, but he has already shown enough at first-team level in Spain to suggest that he has a huge future ahead of him.
The Toffees could certainly use a more youthful option to lead the line, and the fact that Moyes already has Thierno Barry and Beto would ease some of the pressure on the youngster to come in and perform immediately.
If Barcelona are interested in the same player as you, then it is usually an indication that your scouting team are firmly on the right lines.
However, Everton will also be well aware of the fact that they would surely lose out to the superclub if they allowed it to become a straight shootout for the player.
