Everton’s worst-ever deadline day signings – Oumar Niasse and three-goal flop
Everton have often done business on deadline day in the past.
With David Moyes on the hunt for a midfielder at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before the transfer window closes, there is a good chance further additions are made on Monday.
However, while Everton have made some fantastic signings on deadline day in the past, there have been some major flops
Therefore, Goodison News has highlighted three awful deals the Toffees have made on deadline day in the past that Moyes will not want to repeat.

Oumar Niasse
Oumar Niasse made a late move to Everton on deadline day in February 2016.
The striker joined for £13.5million after a prolific spell at Lokomotiv Moscow.
However, the former Senegal international had a torrid time at Goodison Park, and struggled to find form.
It took until September 2017 for the striker to get his first goal after originally being cast out to Hull City on loan.
- Niasse had loan spells at Hull and Cardiff City while at Everton
- The striker had four goalless seasons at the Toffees
- Niasse was eventually released in 2020
However, despite a brief return to form in the 2017/18 campaign where he netted eight times, Niassa wouldn’t score again for the Toffees.
Niasse had plenty of chances to leave Everton, but often turned now potential ways outs.
The 35-year-old was eventually released by Everton, playing just 42 times in four-and-a-half seasons.
Salomon Rondon
Salomon Rondon joined Everton on a free transfer in August 2021.
There was hope that the striker would do well at Goodison Park, after previously having solid spells at West Brom and Newcastle United.
However, his time at the Toffees was awful, with the Venezuela international only netting three times in 31 appearances.

One of his most frustrating cameos was no doubt his substitute appearance in the 3-2 defeat against Brentford in May 2022, with the striker being sent off four minutes after coming on to take Everton down to nine players.
In December 2022, Rondon’s Everton contract was cut short, with the Toffees terminating his deal six months before it was due to expire.
Andy van der Meyde
Everton thought that they had brought in a star when they signed Andy van der Meyde from Inter Milan in 2005.
The winger had previously shone at Ajax before his move to Italy, and the Toffees were hoping to recover his form.
However, the transfer turned out to be disastrous, with van der Meyde only making 24 appearances across four seasons, and did not score a single goal.
Off-field problems plagued his stay at Goodison Park, and the 45-year-old was eventually released on a free in 2009 upon the expiry of his contract.
It was no doubt a failed transfer, with £2million clearly wasted on the winger.
