How much Everton could save as Nathan Patterson reaches exit agreement
Nathan Patterson has struggled to secure a spot in Everton’s starting XI since his move in 2022.
The right-back arrived at Goodison Park from Rangers with a solid reputation, but has only made 59 appearances in three-and-a-half years.
As a result, Patterson has looked set to leave Everton this summer before the transfer window closes.
David Moyes has been unable to find a role for the 23-year-old, which has resulted in the right-back’s future at the Hill Dickinson Stadium coming into doubt.

Everton set to save at least £1.2m+ as Nathan Patterson loan deal is agreed
Reports emerged earlier this week that Everton and Sevilla had reached an agreement in principle for a Patterson loan.
While the Spanish side are waiting to depart with Juanlu Sanchez before they finalise the move for the Scotsman, it is likely that the deal will go through on Monday.
As a result, Everton will be expecting to save quite a bit of money on wages if Sevilla covers the right-back’s wages.
- Patterson only played 691 minutes in all competition last season
- The right-back is yet to feature in the 2025/26 campaign
- Patterson looks set to leave for Sevilla on loan
According to Capology on 1 September, Patterson is currently on £28,000-a-week.
Therefore, if Sevilla covers 100 per cent of his wages, this should save Everton at least £1.204million.
This is also without including potential bonuses and clauses that could be activated if he stayed in Merseyside across the 2025/26 season.

Where has it gone wrong for Nathan Patterson at Everton?
It is fair to say that the right-back has not been a success so far in his Toffees career.
Patterson has been consistently criticised for his performances at Everton, which has no doubt limited his gametime.
Jake O’Brien’s recent emergence as an option on the right flank has also limited his appearances, with Patterson’s use under Moyes being sparse.
Hopefully, if the deal with Sevilla goes through, the Scotsman is able to find his form and get his career back on track.
