Paul Merson cannot believe what he has just said about Everton ahead of Aston Villa showdown
Paul Merson has been left in awe by his own statement about Everton.
David Moyes’ Everton side face Aston Villa as the Premier League returns to action following the international break on Saturday.
Jack Grealish will be looking to star for Everton against his former club, but Moyes has plenty of other options to make a difference.
It would be a real statement if the Blues could defeat Unai Emery’s side at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and would enhance any European ambitions they have.

Paul Merson shocked as he makes Everton vs Aston Villa prediction
Everton have been predicted to lose by a supercomputer, but Merson does not believe that they will face any problems against the Villans.
Merson predicted a 2-0 victory for the Toffees and revealed his surprise at what he had claimed ahead of the contest.
In his weekly predictions piece for Sportskeeda, he said: “I can’t believe I’m backing Everton here because Villa are a good team. It’s just that Unai Emery’s men are not clicking as a unit, and I expect their wait for a win to go on.”
He has been impressed by the connection between Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall that has formed under Moyes, saying: “Everton have become the entertainers, haven’t they? Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish clicking straightaway has been a real delight for them.”

Everton prediction should not surprise Paul Merson
Given the form that the two sides have been in, the Blues should be the favourites to secure victory, especially as they are on home soil.
The Villans are yet to score in the league, and face up against Jordan Pickford, who is statistically one of the best goalkeepers in the top-flight.
- Villa have conceded four goals without reply in their opening three league matches
- Everton have scored five and conceded three goals
- Moyes will hope the international break has not halted their momentum
Merson should not be surprised that he has picked the Toffees to win; they are the better side at the moment by a considerable amount, and it is not even a debate at this point.
Moyes will hope that it continues, as if they are better than the B6 outfit all season, it would leave them in a very good position.
Given that Emery’s side are vying for Champions League qualification, it would be a great result if the Toffees could get the victory, and it would lay a real marker down for the rest of the campaign.
