Everton will pray history doesn’t repeat itself vs Crystal Palace as Met Office update Storm Amy warning

Everton’s clash with Crystal Palace is one of several games that could be impacted as Storm Amy gets set to batter the UK this weekend.

Everton continued their home unbeaten run against West Ham United on Monday, but face their greatest test yet as the Toffees welcome Palace to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, who are on a formidable 18-match unbeaten streak.

As the bad weather may play a factor in this weekend’s fixtures, Evertonians could be in for battering from Storm Amy as the Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings throughout England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – with a yellow warning in place in the surrounding area to the stadium.

The Blues will want to continue their solid form at home, but they face the prospect of history repeating itself against this Sunday’s South London opponents.

Everton vs Crystal Palace was postponed due to bad weather in 2014

Flashing back to the 2013-14 season, when Everton were soaring with Roberto Martinez, and Crystal Palace had just been promoted from the Championship, their Premier League clash on 12 February was postponed less than 45 minutes before kick-off.

The game was written into Everton folklore for multiple reasons, one being the unfortunate case of Evertonian Ric Wee.

The die-hard Blue had travelled from Malaysia to watch his beloved side in person for the very first time, but was handed the unfortunate news about the postponement while inside Goodison Park.

The fixture was rearranged to April 16, which proved to be one of Everton’s most costly results of the season.

Palace secured a shock 3-2 victory against the Blues, who failed to capitalise on their opportunity to break into the top four, and consequently missed out on Champions League football.

Everton had the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison postponed last season due to bad weather.

The Toffees recorded a famous 2-2 draw in the rescheduled fixture.

Everton face their toughest Hill Dickinson Stadium test yet

In recent weeks, the pressure on David Moyes has cranked up a tad.

A dull performance against Liverpool, crashing out of the Carabao Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and an uninspiring draw against West Ham United have left Evertonians annoyed about the current state of their team.

Should the game against Palace get postponed, this would not benefit Everton in the short term.

Everton are not favourites against Crystal Palace, but they do boast a good historical record against the South London outfit.

The Blues have lost one league game against Palace in the last 10 years.

Everton’s last five home matches against Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Everton face Manchester City after their match with Oliver Glasner’s side, and if Sunday’s game does get postponed, it would not be ideal for Moyes‘ side to head to the Etihad Stadium in need of a win.
