James Tarkowski has officially extended his Everton contract until 2028.
The centre-back joined the Toffees from Burnley in 2022 and has since become a rock, helping them avoid relegation on several occasions.

James Tarkowski made history in Everton 2-2 Liverpool
Tarkowski scored a stoppage-time goal against Liverpool at Goodison Park, establishing himself as a legend at the Toffees.
It was the final Merseyside derby at the Grand Old Lady on 12 February 2025, and the 32-year-old made sure it ended in a 2-2 draw with a brilliant strike in the 98th minute.

Brentford display in 2023
Tarkowski was definitely Man of the Match as the Blues beat Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League on 23 September 2023.
The centre-back scored the second goal for the Merseyside outfit in the fixture, giving them the lead, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin eventually got the third.
With the English defender also resolute defensively on the day, Everton recorded their first Premier League win of the season.
Arsenal dagger as James Tarkowski blows title hopes
With Arsenal leading the English top flight on 4 February 2023, Tarkowski ensured they went back without any points from Goodison Park.
The defender scored a goal at the hour mark as the Blues’ defence frustrated the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta’s team went on to lose the Premier League by five points to Manchester City that season, and the English centre-back’s goal was undoubtedly consequential.
Everton dominate Leicester City in 4-0 win
Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite started in defence for the Toffees as they beat Leicester City 4-0 at home on 1 February 2025.
The former Burnley centre-back played a perfectly weighted pass to find Beto in behind the Foxes’ defence for the Merseyside outfit’s second goal.
While Leicester weren’t a great team last season and eventually got relegated, the defender still put in a resolute performance to keep the opposition attacks to a minimum.

Tarkowski was magnificent against Crystal Palace on 5 October and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
The Toffees completed a comeback in the second half, and the English defender played a pivotal role in the game ending 2-1.
As per Sofascore, the centre-back made five clearances, blocked three shots and cleared a ball off the line, along with winning a majority of his duels, highlighting how important he is to Everton’s success.
