The next England record Jordan Pickford is well on course to break after Wales clean sheet
Jordan Pickford remains the undisputed number one for both Everton and England heading into a World Cup year.
Pickford broke Gordon Banks’ long-standing England record for successive clean sheets in the 3-0 win over Wales on Thursday.
On what was a relatively stress-free evening for the Everton stopper, Pickford earned praise from Theo Walcott for the maturity he is showing.
The 31-year-old looks set to start for England once again in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia in Riga.

Jordan Pickford eyes Peter Shilton’s England clean sheet record
Pickford has now gone 720 minutes since last conceding a goal for England – a record he will be confident of extending against limited opposition in Latvia.
The next major milestone in Pickford’s sights will be England’s all-time clean sheet record.
Pickford has 40 clean sheets to his name for England at senior level, which only Joe Hart (43) and Peter Shilton (66) can better.
It is more than likely Pickford will overtake Hart before the end of the year, but Shilton’s record may take a little while longer to match yet.

He has already surpassed Banks (35) and David Seaman (40) in recent times, strengthening his status as one of England’s greatest goalkeepers of all time.
As per Sofascore, Pickford has a save percentage of 73.7 across his 79 England matches.
Pickford contract latest at Everton
When Pickford’s not breaking records at international level, he is also doing so at club level with Everton.
Pickford reached 300 Premier League appearances for Everton in the win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
Pickford vs Wales:
- Made two saves from inside the box
- Four of his long balls were accurate
- He made one clearance
It is why Pickford – not just literally – is the first name on David Moyes’ team sheet.
And it is also why Everton are eager to agree fresh terms with Pickford as they look to build this new era around the goalkeeper.
Pickford is said to be open to extending his contract, with confirmation hopefully now just around the corner once club action resumes.
