Darren Bent makes Jordan Pickford to Chelsea point as ‘problem’ raised
Everton look set to announce a new contract for Jordan Pickford in the coming days.
Pickford’s focus is currently on England duty, with the Three Lions set to face Latvia in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
After that, though, Pickford will be back at Finch Farm to sign an extended contract as early as Wednesday.
It is thought the new deal will keep Pickford tied down at Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2029, at which point he will be aged 35.
That should put an end to any sort of transfer speculation, with Darren Bent explaining why Pickford will see staying at Everton as the best option for him.

Jordan Pickford previously linked with Chelsea move
Pickford was touted as a target for Chelsea last year, albeit nothing came of that reported interest in the media.
Signing a new deal will ramp up Pickford’s price tag and therefore further put off any suitors from making a move.
Some on the outside may be surprised to see Pickford further commit to Everton, when he is more than capable of playing for one of the top-six sides.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive on Monday, Andy Goldstein asked co-host Bent if he’s surprised to see Pickford commit to Everton when he could play for a top-six side.
Bent replied: “Unless it’s a side in the Champions League every seasons competing, he’s probably thinking ‘where else?’
“He’s settled there. If Chelsea come calling, why not? But they might not. That’s the problem.”
It is unknown just how serious any interest in Pickford has been in the past, with Chelsea not believed to have lodged a formal bid.
Everton player contract lengths
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have both signed new contracts of late, while James Garner is also supposedly set to follow.
It is great to see the Toffees being so proactive when it comes to tying down key players, hopefully to ensure they stay rather than to just ramp up their selling price.
Player | Contract expires |
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall | June 2030 |
Jarrad Branthwaite | June 2030 |
Mark Travers | June 2029 |
Iliman Ndiaye | June 2029 |
Tyler Dibling | June 2029 |
Thierno Barry | June 2029 |
Adam Aznou | June 2029 |
As things stand, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – signed this summer from Chelsea – and Branthwaite are both under contract until 2030.
Five others – Mark Travers, Iliman Ndiaye, Tyler Dibling, Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou – are all committed until 2029.
This is the type of long-term planning that is needed, with Pickford set to join that list in the next few days.
