Jordan Pickford can follow new contract with something he’s never done as an Everton player

Jordan Pickford looks set to extend his stay at Everton for another four years.

England international Pickford will sign his new Everton contract upon returning to Finch Farm later this week.

Pickford could even see out his career at Everton, with the fan favourite already in his ninth campaign as a Toffee.

Everton supporters will hope that deal is done and dusted ahead of next weekend’s return to action, when Everton take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Jordan Pickford has poor record vs Manchester City

Pickford set a new England record for successive clean sheets last week and has Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia to get through before facing Man City.

The former Sunderland goalkeeper will not need telling of his rather poor record against the Citizens.

Indeed, as per stats shared by Sofascore, Pickford has played 17 matches against Man City and has yet to be on the winning side, losing all but three of those.

More than that, though, Pickford has never kept a clean sheet against City and has conceded 40 times in total.

Pickford averages 3.83 saves per game against City, with a save percentage of 61.9, while he has saved one penalty and conceded another.

Everton’s most recent clash with Man City ended in a 2-0 loss at Goodison Park in April, while their most recent visit to the Etihad Stadium was a 1-1 draw on Boxing Day last year.

Which Premier League clubs has Pickford failed to keep a clean sheet against?

Man City are one of only three teams Pickford has faced in the Premier League without keeping a clean sheet against.

Swansea City, surprisingly, lead the way with four matches without a clean sheet for Pickford.

Luton Town are next on the list with three matches, followed by – ironically – Everton themselves following Pickford’s time with Sunderland.

Teams Pickford has failed to keep a clean sheet against in Premier League:

Pickford will also need no telling of his record against Leicester City, having kept just one clean sheet in 16 appearances against them.

Let’s hope there is one less team on that list come the end of Saturday as Everton aim to pull off a shock result in Manchester.
