Adam Aznou nightmare continues after what happened with Everton Under-21s

Adam Aznou has had a nightmare start to his Everton career.

Everton signed Aznou from Bayern Munich in an £8million deal, but he has failed to have the required impact so far.

James Garner and Seamus Coleman have played backup to Vitalii Mykolenko, when the left-back has been missing.

David Moyes has called on Aznou to develop physically if he is to become a first-team player, but he will not be impressed with the latest scenes.

Adam Aznou flops in Everton Under-21 shambles

The plan was to give Aznou game time with Everton’s Under-21 side, and he started in the EFL Trophy clash with Bradford City on 14 October.

However, it did not go to plan, as Paul Tait’s side were hammered 5-1 by the League Two outfit, and Aznou was partially at fault for one of the goals.

The 19-year-old played a poor pass, which led to the Bantams scoring their second goal of the evening, which will not help his case.

He lost possession 19 times, completed two of eight dribbles, won eight of 19 duels and was dribbled past twice, as per Sofascore.

Everton need much more from Aznou

The Blues desperately need Aznou to step up and challenge Mykolenko for a first-team role, but right now, he does not look anywhere near the required level.

He impressed on loan at Rayo Valladolid in La Liga last season as the Sofascore graphic below shows, but he has not been able to showcase that form with the Blues.

The money that the Blues spent on him was not much, considering the finances available to the Friedkin Group, but you would expect a player who has come from the German side to be ready.

It is too soon to write him off, but it is a concern; he should be the best player on the pitch in an under-21s game, instead, he was one of the main reasons for the humiliation.

Moyes will not trust him anytime soon after the latest showing, and he needs to really assert himself as a top player for the Under-21s, if he is to be called upon by the Scotsman.

The evidence so far suggests that he will just be another on a long list of bad Toffees signings in the last decade.
