John McGinn in advanced talks as winner all but named in Everton transfer race
Everton have been linked with several transfer targets as they look to improve their squad.
Everton had a busy summer transfer window as they look to push for a top-half finish this season.
John McGinn was linked with Everton in the summer, yet that move never managed to materialise for the 30-year-old, leaving David Moyes frustrated.
An update has now been provided on whether McGinn will join Everton or not in the January transfer window.

John McGinn on the verge of signing new Aston Villa contract
McGinn has been subject to much speculation over the past year, with reports suggesting he could be on his way to Merseyside.
As summer signing Merlin Rohl remains injured, Everton are still in desperate need of a top-quality central midfielder.
The Telegraph has now reported that McGinn is close to signing a new contract with Aston Villa.

Having made 297 appearances for Aston Villa, McGinn’s reliability and availability have been a huge part of Villa’s success in recent years.
The Scotland international is now nailed on to stay at Villa to help them achieve another season of continental football.
Everton have shown that they can be a real threat to the established top-half teams this season, and McGinn would’ve greatly improved their current starting lineup.
Everton have high aspirations of their own, and Moyes will have to quickly identify an alternative midfielder who can fill the role that he desperately needs.

John McGinn staying at Aston Villa a huge blow for Everton
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been an excellent signing for Everton, yet his role higher up the pitch means Everton could have done with McGinn.
James Garner has also shone this season, yet Moyes is insistent that he wants another midfielder to partner him over Idrissa Gana Gueye.
McGinn’s experience would have been invaluable for the Toffees, yet they are faced with disappointment as Villa’s captain looks set to stay at his club.
As Everton sit eighth in the Premier League, they’ll need to look at different options as they look to strengthen their ambitions to achieve European football for next season.
