David Moyes has clear goal at Everton as ex-employee shares aim after major announcements

Everton return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face Manchester City.

The Toffees haven’t played in the Premier League since 5 October, with the latest international break providing the perfect opportunity for them to take stock of their campaign so far.

There is no doubt that they have a huge challenge on their hands if they are to beat Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend, but Everton have received a welcome boost amid confirmation that Rodri will miss the game through injury.

David Moyes will be delighted to see his team get back onto the pitch, but it has still been a productive recent period for the boss and the club.

Everton want Europe after contract renewals

James Tarkowski recently committed to Everton by signing a new two-year contract, with Jordan Pickford since following suit in the last few days.

The former cited his desire to lead the Toffees into European football as one of the main drivers behind his decision to pen renewed terms, and there could be genuine hope of that in the near future.

The pair of contract extensions are undoubtedly two major positives for the Merseysiders, as it ensures that the spine of their team will remain settled for the foreseeable future.

Ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that Europe is a realistic goal, and added that Moyes will love the security that these new deals have provided.

“I think with Moyes, you’ve always got a settled side that looks capable of getting results,” King said.

“That’s what he works for, stability and players responding to what he wants.

“That (Europe) must be the next aim for Everton, they look likely to establish themselves as a mid-table team, and now they’ve got to push on and the results have got to come.”

Jordan Pickford extension is vital for David Moyes

Moyes has always valued a settled core at Everton, and with that in mind, the fact that his first-choice goalkeeper has penned a new four-year deal will be a hugely important piece of business.

Pickford is undoubtedly one of the country’s best glovemen, and talk of him being replaced as the starter for the national team is baffling, given the level of consistency that he provides.

A top-quality goalkeeper is a must for any team that want to compete in the top half of the Premier League in today’s world, and that is exactly what the Toffees have in the 31-year-old.

European football may not come this season, or even next, but Everton can be certain that they have a shot stopper who would be capable of rising to the challenge whenever it does arrive.
