Richard Keys moots shock Everton transfer for Patrick Bamford as ‘major problem’ emerges’
Everton have been told that Patrick Bamford can solve their issues this season.
Beto was poor once again as Everton succumbed to defeat to Manchester City as shown by the Sofascore graphic below, and David Moyes clearly does not trust Thierno Barry.
Beto missed a glorious chance for Everton to take the lead in the 13th minute, and that could have changed the complexion of the contest.
Instead, Erling Haaland continued his fine form against Everton and left Moyes ruing his side’s inability to put the ball in the back of the net.

Richard Keys claims Everton should sign Patrick Bamford
Richard Keys hit out at Jack Grealish’s absence for Everton in the defeat to City, and now he has had his say on their forward woes.
Keys cannot fathom why the Blues have not tried to sign Patrick Bamford, who was released by Leeds United in the summer and has scored 24 goals in 102 Premier League appearances.
Andy Gray highlighted the issue live on BeIN SPORTS on 18 October, saying: “He’s got to score there Beto, sorry. It’s a major problem for Everton at centre-forward.”
Keys responded with the suggestion, saying: “They haven’t got one. I still don’t know why someone doesn’t sign Patrick Bamford. He’s a free agent who knows his way around. He’s certainly better than what [Everton] have.”
Keys is wrong, Bamford would not improve Everton
As per usual, Keys’ opinion is absolutely ridiculous, Bamford would absolutely not improve the Toffees at this point.
He spent most of last season on the sidelines for the Whites, making just 17 appearances in the Championship, and he failed to score.
- Bamford was struck with injuries last season
- He has notched a total of 12 goals across the last three seasons
- The ex-Leeds man is still without a club
If he could not score goals in the second-tier, how is he going to score them in the top-flight, against elite defenders?
It is an utterly foolish suggestion, and shows once again, that Keys should not be taken seriously when it comes to anything he says about the game.
Beto and Barry have struggled, that is beyond question, but Bamford on a free transfer is definitely not the answer for Moyes and Co.
He is a shadow of his former self, which is why Leeds boss Daniel Farke chose to get rid of him, and signing him would not be the solution for the Toffees.
