Dan Friedkin to be personally involved at Everton as James Garner contract set

Everton can’t waste any time on a new contract for James Garner, who is set to become a free agent next summer.

The Toffees have extended Jordan Pickford’s stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the goalkeeper committing his future until 2029 in L4.

David Moyes has also seen James Tarkowski sign a new deal until 2028, but there are other players like Garner who the Blues should now look to tie down to fresh terms.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) may have to be personally involved in the negotiations, though, with the former Manchester United star thriving at the Merseyside outfit.

Manchester United interest in James Garner a worry for Everton

Garner was one of the most exciting prospects at Old Trafford, but failed to live up to expectations there.

Having secured a move to the Toffees in 2022, the 24-year-old took his time to find his feet but has now emerged as one of the best players in L4.

As a result, the likes of Man United are keeping tabs on Garner, with his contract expiring at the end of this season, but the Blues have no intention of selling him.

The Merseyside outfit aren’t in a strong position when it comes to the Englishman’s future, as he could opt to leave for free in the coming months.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see a move to Old Trafford appeal to the Red Devils’ academy graduate, leaving the Friedkins with an evident worry.

The American owners should do everything in their power to convince the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new contract sooner rather than later.

David Moyes to fume at James Garner situation at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Moyes saw Abdoulaye Doucoure leave Goodison Park as a free agent in the summer, and the current scenario will seem all too familiar.

Everton also lost another key player in Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his contract expired, leaving the Scottish manager with a relatively weakened squad.

While TFG tried to do their best to resolve the several tasks on their plate after taking over from Farhad Moshiri, they can’t let that legacy continue.

Garner has done enough for a lucrative deal in L4, but it remains to be seen whether the Toffees can make an official announcement soon.
