Iliman Ndiaye did something for Everton vs Man City that no other Premier League player has this season
Iliman Ndiaye can be proud of his individual performance on Saturday, despite Everton’s loss.
Everton lost 2-0 to Manchester City, with Erling Haaland‘s quickfire second-half brace handing David Moyes‘ side a disappointing loss.
The Toffees had been in contention for a result for much of the game, but fell to the striker’s dominance midway through the second half.
Beto missed a massive chance in the first half against Manchester City, which should have had Moyes’ side ahead, but the striker was stretching and could only divert the ball wide of the goal.
Everton could have had a penalty when Bernardo Silva appeared to handle the ball shortly after Haaland’s opener, but their complaints were waved away by the referee.

Iliman Ndiaye puts in huge defensive effort vs Manchester City
Ndiaye was sensational against Manchester City on Saturday, and needed to be in the absence of Jack Grealish.
The Englishman was unavailable to play against his parent club, leaving much of the creative burden on the shoulders of the Senegal international.
And Ndiaye responded emphatically to the pressure – it was his cross that should have been converted by Beto early in the first half, and the winger could have had a goal himself, if not for the save of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
It was his defensive work that really stood out, however. Ndiaye completed more tackles than any other player on the pitch and also registered an interception.

The standout stat came in the form of recoveries, of which the 25-year-old completed 11.
According to Statmuse, no player has registered more in a Premier League game this season, and no player has completed anywhere near as many in a game against Manchester City.
What did David Moyes say about Ndiaye’s performance?
Speaking after the game, Moyes said: “Ili was the best player on the pitch in the first half. He might have got taken over by (Phil) Foden as the game went on, but I think that Ili is the one who really made a big difference for us.”
The Scot is right to pick out his winger after what was yet another brilliant display.

Grealish has often caught the headlines for his displays this season, but his absence on Saturday allowed for Ndiaye’s excellence to be on full display.
With Moyes’ wingers to be reunited next week, Everton will hope to get back to winning ways.
