David Moyes jibe used to help call out angry Arsenal fans over Premier League development
David Moyes has once again been disrespected by the mainstream media for all of his achievements in his managerial career.
Having started his journey as a coach in 1998, the 62-year-old has taken charge of six different teams and has experienced varying levels of success before coming back to Everton in January.
Everton defeated Fulham 2-0 on Saturday, with goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane sending the Toffees into 11th place in the Premier League table.
After years of fighting off relegation, the Scottish manager has supporters finally believing that they can achieve a top-half finish for the first time since 2020-21.
The Toffees are showing clear signs of progress, yet Moyes has been unfairly called out after Arsenal fan fury over Mikel Arteta not winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award in October.

David Moyes unfairly compared to Pep Guardiola in Arsenal vs Man United debate
Moyes is an Everton legend, and despite his grand age of 62, his tactical adaptability is still working wonders in the modern game.
Writing in the Sunday People on 9 November, Andy Dunn namedropped Moyes when discussing why Ruben Amorim winning the Manager of the Month award supposedly means very little.
Arsenal fans felt aggrieved that Arteta, who led his side to a faultless October, didn’t win the award.
Dunn wrote: “If anyone takes the Premier League Manager of the Month award seriously, always remember one thing.
“David Moyes has won as many as Pep Guardiola.”
| Club | Games managed | Win percentage |
| Preston (1998-2002) | 234 | 47.86% |
| Everton (2002-20013) | 518 | 42.08% |
| Man United (2013-2014) | 51 | 52.94% |
| Real Sociedad (2014-2015) | 42 | 28.57% |
| Sunderland (2016-2017) | 43 | 18.60% |
| West Ham (2017-2018) | 31 | 29.03% |
| West Ham (2019-2023) | 231 | 44.59% |
| Everton (2025-present) | 33 | 39.39% |
Moyes and Guardiola have both won 11 Manager of the Month awards, and it’s unfair to compare the two of them, given the gap in resources that each manager is working with in the Premier League.
Apart from his brief stint at Man United, Moyes has always worked with limited financial capabilities and has frequently been successful against the odds.
Moyes lifted the Europa Conference League with West Ham in 2022-23, whilst also leading Everton to multiple top-six finishes in his first spell in charge.
Moyes returned to Everton after Sean Dyche’s sacking, and there has been a resurgence of belief among the Toffees fans this season.
Everton aiming towards the future with David Moyes
The recruitment strategy over the past decade has been laughable at times, but this summer has seen a change in approach that has benefited the team massively.
Jack Grealish has been superb since arriving on loan from Man City, whilst Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s £24million move has turned out to be a brilliant piece of business.
The Toffees have adapted to the Hill Dickinson Stadium seamlessly, and the future looks incredibly bright in L4 under Moyes’ stewardship.
Against Fulham, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane, and Jordan Pickford were assured in keeping the ball out of their net, and Everton have laid down promising foundations for the rest of the season with their display on Saturday.
