Diabolical Everton Women stat heaps pressure on Brian Sorensen after another humiliating defeat

Brian Sorensen’s position as Everton Women’s manager looks increasingly precarious as the Toffees fell to another WSL1 defeat on Sunday, this time to West Ham.

The Hammers ran out 3-1 winners at the Chigwell Construction Stadium to pick up their first win of the league campaign.

Now, Everton are just three points off the relegation play-off zone with their 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool on the opening day remaining their only win to date.

Questions need to be asked of Brian Sorensen as relegation becomes real possibility

So far this season, the Toffees have put in some dire performances.

Everton have suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Manchester United, as well as a 2-0 loss to Tottenham in their first match since officially moving to Goodison Park.

Now EFC Statto has confirmed on X on 16 November that, barring the Toffees’ derby wins, they are winless in their last 12 WSL1 matches.

This is diabolical and simply unacceptable, considering the seemingly strong summer the Toffees had.

Signings such as Ornella Vignola at Everton looked smart, especially after the attacker netted a hat-trick on her debut.

Yet, results have not followed, and with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City up next in the WSL1, it is unlikely that this form will recover any time soon.

Therefore, Sorensen could well find himself without a job soon. Relegation for Everton is simply unthinkable, but as it stands, the Toffees are in a battle to survive the drop.

What has Sorensen said after West Ham vs Everton Women?

After the match, Sorensen faced the media in what was no doubt a frustrating result for the manager.

When talking to Everton Women, the manager highlighted how the Toffees kept losing the physical battle against West Ham, which contributed to the defeat.

He said: “In the first half, we were not there; we were getting bullied physically. They were winning every 50/50 duel, and every one-on-one duel.

“We are not happy of course. They were sloppy goals we conceded. The first one, I don’t know how that has gone in, and the second one is a set piece again.

“We had a mountain to climb in the second half, and we were better, showed some more resilience and so on.

“Getting that first goal to get back into the game, that dropped to West Ham. 3-0 down, that is always hard, but we kept going at it.

“Overall, against a team that are physically very good, you cannot not step up, you have to be there.

“I said to the girls last week, you put in the performance in terms of the physical battle, but also the technical battle. We were good on the ball, but today was a bit too up and down, especially physically.

“I am super disappointed of course.”
