Scottish media hail ‘magnificent’ Scott McTominay after what Everton-linked star did vs Denmark
Everton have been linked with a stunning January move for Napoli star Scott McTominay in recent days.
The Napoli midfielder has become a star in Italy since his departure from the Premier League in the summer of 2024, and he helped his side to the Serie A title last term.
Everton have been linked with an eye-catching move for McTominay this winter, despite his current club valuing him at over the £60million mark.
Securing the 28-year-old’s signature would be a real coup for David Moyes and Co., and they will have been delighted to see his exploits for Scotland in midweek.

Scott McTominay handed perfect 10/10 rating for display vs Denmark
Everton are eyeing a blockbuster move for McTominay in January, in a deal that could potentially smash their transfer record.
The former Manchester United star has become a talismanic figure for both his club and his country, and he showcased that again in Scotland’s crucial 4-2 win over Denmark on Tuesday night.
McTominay netted a stunning overhead kick in just the third minute at Hampden Park, as he set his country on their way to a victory that secured World Cup qualification for the first time since 1998.
It was a memorable moment for Steve Clarke’s men, and their star man has received rave reviews from the national media for his role in the historic win.
The Herald branded the Everton-linked star’s performance as “magnificent” and gave him a 9/10 rating, while acknowledging that he is on the way to becoming a “legend” for his country.
Meanwhile, The Scotsman went one step further and handed McTominay a perfect 10/10 rating, and added that he was “a menace all evening” for the visitors.
David Moyes holds the key to Scott McTominay pursuit at Everton
Moyes is a hugely valuable weapon for Everton to have at their disposal, given his expansive contacts and his revered reputation within the game.
Ordinarily, it would surely be far too ambitious for a team in the mid-table region of the Premier League to attract a star of McTominay’s quality, but with Moyes at the helm, anything is possible for the Toffees.
They have been revitalised as a club by the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and that switch, combined with the option to work with his countryman, could appeal hugely to McTominay if he does decide to move on from Napoli.
Moyes has done plenty for Everton over the years, but if he could convince the midfielder to join then it may just be his most valuable contribution yet.
