Jack Grealish’s Man United transfer truth resurfaces ahead of Everton clash

Jack Grealish will be a part of the Everton squad for their trip to Old Trafford on Monday.

Everton travel to face Man United on Monday, with hopes of picking up a win to increase the breathing space on the bottom three.

The Toffees are winless against the Red Devils in their last seven meetings, with their most recent win coming back in 2022 courtesy of a first-half strike from Anthony Gordon.

Grealish is likely to be the man that Everton look for to produce a similar moment this time round against a club that he nearly signed for.

Man United almost signed Jack Grealish before Man City move

Grealish has been excellent for Everton since arriving from Man City on loan in the summer, where he had lost his way under Pep Guardiola.

Despite joining as a regular starter in 2021, Grealish very quickly became a squad player at the Etihad before pursuing a loan move in the summer.

However, his career could have panned out very differently four years ago, after it was revealed that the Englishman came close to joining Man United over Man City.

Back in 2021, in an exclusive interview with the Telegraph, Grealish said: “I was really close to going [to Man United], but nothing happened in the end.

“We played United in a pre-season game on Saturday, and I wasn’t supposed to play in a cup game at Burton. But after the United game, I said to Purslow and my agent [David Manasseh], ‘If I’m not leaving, I’ll sign my new contract’.

““I went in with my dog on Tuesday morning, signed the deal, and played later that day. We all agreed on the clause, and if any team hit that, it’s a win-win because it means I’ve had an unbelievable season and Villa got £100million.”

Jack Grealish has had a mixed time vs Man United

Dating all the way back to 2015, Grealish has faced off against Man United on 10 occasions, with nine of those encounters coming in the Premier League.

Of those nine, Grealish has been on the winning side on just three occasions, with the Red Devils coming out on top four times.

The 30-year-old has two goals and an assist in those games, though each time he has contributed to a goal, his side have either gone on to lose or draw the game.

Given the fact that Everton need a win to get back on track this season, Grealish will be looking to put his past record against the Red Devils behind him and show them what they missed out on back in 2021.
