Joleon Lescott shares six words Idrissa Gueye told him after Michael Keane bust-up

Idrissa Gana Gueye personally told former Everton player Joleon Lescott he was disappointed with his red card incident against Manchester United.

Everton beat Man United in a historic 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Monday, pushing themselves up the Premier League table.

David Moyes finally broke his torrid record against Man United, as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s strike from distance was enough to get the three points for the Toffees.

However, the biggest talking point in the game was Gueye’s bust-up with his Everton team-mate Michael Keane, which resulted in a red card for the former.

The midfielder was caught striking Keane in the face, and his private thoughts on the moment of madness have now been shared by Lescott.

Gueye has since apologised for letting Everton down, as the whole situation has been a real shame for everyone involved.

The 36-year-old has had a good start to the season in terms of form up until this point, and will no doubt have regrets over his act of carelessness.

While speaking on All Out Football, Lescott shared what Gueye told him privately about his thoughts on what he did.

Lescott said: “I spoke to him after that and he was like, ‘That was so out of character’.

“But I said, ‘this happens, you’re allowed to be out of character for one moment’, you know what I mean? It’s not like it’s happened every week. It’s okay.”

The Everton man was quick to say sorry, and if the Toffees want to achieve anything this season, everyone needs to stick together.

Gueye should be forgiven at Everton

Gueye has been a loyal servant to Everton and has stayed through many ups and downs during the Toffees’ time at Goodison Park – and now Hill Dickinson Stadium.

A new era is starting on Merseyside, and Moyes is leading Everton’s charge towards Europe, and it’s clear that the head coach sees Gueye playing an instrumental role in that too.

The Senegalese is still performing well, but a drop off in form is expected because of his age.

Everton and their fans need to get behind him, as no one benefits from broken relationships, especially when everyone is working together toward the same goals.
