David Moyes admits Jordan Pickford ‘drives him mad’ with Everton star possessing clear weakness
David Moyes has admitted that Jordan Pickford’s distribution can “drive him mad” ahead of Everton’s clash with Newcastle.
Pickford has been ever-reliable for Everton in recent years, and this has continued under the Scotsman.
Against Manchester United, Pickford was excellent and was key to their 1-0 victory on Monday.
Now, with Newcastle up next, the Sunderland-born keeper will come up against his arch-rivals once again.
However, while his saving ability remains top-notch, Pickford’s kicking still leaves a lot to be desired.

David Moyes: Jordan Pickford is a top goalkeeper
Going into the match, Moyes will be hoping his goalkeeper can continue his fine form.
Pickford recently signed a new contract at Everton as the Toffees look to maintain one of the best keepers in the division.
Moyes recognises this, and took the time to praise the goalkeeper before the Newcastle clash. However, was quick to point out his poor kicking skills in the process.
He told the Liverpool Echo on 28 November: “He does a top, top job… he drives me mad at times with some of his kicking and we are waving our arms at each other (but he is a top goalkeeper)”

Nevertheless, Pickford will likely be key to an Everton victory over Newcastle despite how poor his kicking is.
How bad is Pickford’s distribution?
According to Sofascore on 28 November, Pickford’s distribution is particularly poor.
As it stands, the keeper has only found an Everton player with 37.9 per cent of his long balls.
However, his other qualities make up for this poor attribute, with Pickford making 2.92 saves per game as well as keeping a 33 per cent clean sheet rate.

Therefore, Pickford is on for another memorable season at the Toffees as they look to push for European football.
If the England international can just fix his distribution during this time, he will likely make Moyes even happier.
