Everton vs Newcastle postponement latest as Met Office issue new weather warning

Everton and Newcastle United could face disruption ahead of their Saturday clash.

Newcastle are set for a trip to face Everton in a return to Premier League action at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after the international break.

The Toffees come into the match on positive form after Everton secured a 1-0 win against Manchester United despite being down to 10 men.

David Moyes will be hopeful of making three wins from three with Everton ready to host Newcastle on Merseyside.

There may be issues ahead of kick-off in L4, with the Met Office revealing a potential concern for travelling supporters.

Newcastle United face weather warning ahead of Everton clash

Newcastle could pose a tough test for Everton, regardless of their recent struggles on the road, both domestically and in Europe.

Eddie Howe’s side lost in mid-week to Marseille in the Champions League, causing widespread frustration surrounding the Magpies.

That wasn’t helped when supporters were treated shamefully by police at the Orange Velodrome.

The travelling supporters from the north east shouldn’t face the same problems on Merseyside, but could certainly face weather troubles on their travels.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for 29 November for ice and rain across central England, with disruption likely.

It is the ice that will primarily affect Newcastle fans on their journey down to the Hill Dickinson, potentially causing delays.

With over four hours until kick off, it is currently unclear whether a delayed kickoff could be put in place, or even a full postponement if Newcastle players can’t reach the ground.

Everton could delay kick-off to benefit Newcastle United fans

The threat of heavy rainfall and potential ice will always result in heavy traffic on motorways, which many fans will use to reach L4.

The Hill Dickinson is also a tougher stadium to get to than most, so additional time is always recommended for travel.

That could be impacted by the weather warnings and it could be wise to delay kick off, should these problems persist moving closer to 5:30pm.

It will be interesting to see if a call is made by the Premier League or whether supporters will arrive in good time in Merseyside.
