Graeme Le Saux blown away by Carlos Alcaraz for what he did after ‘fantastic’ Everton moment vs Newcastle United

Carlos Alcaraz so nearly had the desired impact when he came on for Everton against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Everton fell to a 4-1 defeat against Newcastle at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on a difficult evening for David Moyes and Co.

After the highs of Everton’s 1-0 win against Manchester United, the Toffees have come straight back down to earth with a bang.

Jack Grealish and Moyes were spotted clashing against Newcastle, summing up the frustration of the home side against Eddie Howe’s men.

Alcaraz was brought on at half-time with the hope of changing the tide, and Graeme Le Saux was blown away by what he saw from the Argentine.

Carlos Alcaraz nearly scored wonder goal vs Newcastle

There was controversy as Everton lost to Newcastle United, not that the home side have any reason to feel disheartened by any decisions.

The Magpies were super clinical and took almost every chance that fell their way throughout the first half, with Nick Woltemade making it 3-0 before the half-time whistle.

Malick Thiaw grabbed his second and Newcastle’s fourth in the second half, cancelling out a stunning touch and finish from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Things could have been different if half-time substitute Alcaraz had found the net with a thumping effort just eight minutes into the second half.

The ex-Southampton man struck the crossbar with a stunning strike, leaving Le Saux blown away live on USA Network.

He said: “What an effort that was. When it was rolling back to him, I thought, ‘Just keep over it, don’t look up.’ He absolutely smacked that ball, didn’t he?

The ball in from Garner was fantastic and it was a brilliant save from Ramsdale.

Alcaraz should start more regularly for Everton

The Toffees may have had the better of the first half, but Howe’s men certainly came into it as the second 45 went on.

The Magpies went on to create more chances and have more efforts on target as the home side felt disheartened by the scoreline.

It could be said that this drop-off coincided with Alcaraz’s arrival, but his element of surprise and ability to make things happen were a boost.

Grealish was reluctant to get a shot away, and as useful as that ability can be, it was a hindrance against Newcastle.

In one moment, as his strike cannoned off the bar, the Argentine proved exactly why he could be a useful asset from the start under Moyes moving forward.
