Jack Grealish and David Moyes spotted ‘kicking off’ after what happened in Everton vs Newcastle

Jack Grealish and David Moyes were both furious at a refereeing decision that went against Everton in their clash with Newcastle United.

Everton went into half-time 3-0 down in Saturday’s Premier League contest through goals from Malick Thiaw – inside a minute – Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade.

From the high of Everton beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Monday, the Toffees struggled to get going against Newcastle at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Amid concerns over the forecasted weather conditions ahead of the Newcastle game, Moyes would have been concerned by just how poor his side were in the first 45 minutes.

And one call in particular from referee Craig Pawson angered Moyes and Grealish.

David Moyes furious with Craig Pawson decision

A tight contest was predicted between Everton and Newcastle, but Thiaw’s early goal completely stunned the hosts.

Miley’s goal compounded Everton’s misery, with that second clearly leaving Moyes in a foul mood on the sidelines.

As pointed out by The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland on X, Moyes was then further angered when a throw-in decision went against Everton.

“Grealish and Moyes kicking off,” Boyland wrote. “Replays show last touch almost certainly came off [Anthony] Elanga. Moyes spends long time talking to fourth official about it.

Liverpool Echo reporter Connor O’Neill also commented on the incident, posting: “David Moyes is furious on the touchline after Newcastle are awarded a throw-in that he believes should have been given to Everton.”

Pawson has previously upset Everton supporters this season, getting a big decision wrong in the EFL Cup loss to Wolves.

Moyes oversees Everton horror show

Everton were truly abysmal in the first half against Newcastle. While the Magpies – poor travellers this season – deserve praise, the Toffees were the victims of their own downfall.

Woltemade’s third goal shortly before half-time killed off the contest, meaning it is now damage limitation for the remaining 45 minutes.

Everton fans have had plenty to cheer about at Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, but this really was a horror show against Newcastle.
