Liverpool could do the unthinkable amid bombshell Iliman Ndiaye and Everton talks update
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with the agent of Everton favourite Iliman Ndiaye.
Ndiaye has been superb for Everton this season, scoring four goals and assisting another in 12 Premier League appearances.
David Moyes has got the best out of Ndiaye, as he has with Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish, with the 2024 summer signing fulfilling his potential.
However, shock reports emerging from France suggest that Ndiaye is now on the radar of a number of Premier League rivals, including Liverpool.
Tottenham and Man City also interested in Iliman Ndiaye
Ndiaye being linked with an Everton exit is nothing new. Indeed, it is inevitable given the form he has been in.
However, Foot Mercato reported on Saturday that Ndiaye is now on Liverpool’s list of targets for the 2026 summer transfer window.
Not only that, Santi Aouna adds via X that initial talks have already started with the agent of Ndiaye.
Manchester City and Tottenham are also said to be eyeing a deal for the Senegal international, who is under contract until June 2029.
Ndiaye, who cost Everton £15million to sign from Marseille last year, is said to be high on the list of all three teams’ shortlists.
Abel Xavier last player to cross Merseyside divide
Abel Xavier is the most recent example of a player crossing the divide, with that controversial transfer happening some 23 years ago.
In the opposite direction, Nick Barmby was the last player to join Everton from Liverpool in 2000. Before that, you have to go back to Dave Hickson’s transfer in 1959.
It goes without saying, then, that any business between the hated Merseyside rivals is extremely rare.
| Games played | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Yellow cards |
| 12 | 1,000 | 4 | 1 | 2 |
Liverpool signing Ndiaye really is unthinkable, and Everton will surely not consider any offers from the Reds.
It could be a different matter if Man City or Spurs table a bid, but fingers crossed it does not come to that.
Everton have a real talent on their hands in Ndiaye, who will hopefully be at Hill Dickinson Stadium for a number of years to come.
For now, supporters need to enjoy him while they can.
