David Moyes informed exactly when Scott McTominay could sign for Everton
Everton could agree on a sensational deal to sign Scott McTominay, but they’ll need to be patient.
David Moyes has been backed to do great things at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the Friedkins willing to support him with several new signings.
This was shown through several acquisitions over the summer, including Jack Grealish from Manchester City and Thierno Barry, who has started to find his feet at Everton.
But after Everton’s devastating 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday, it is evident Moyes is still in desperate need of reinforcements.

Bryan King: Everton will need to wait until after the World Cup for Scott McTominay
Everton have been linked to McTominay, who lifted the Serie A title with Napoli last season.
The former Manchester United star was named in the Ballon d’Or top 30 for the first time in his career, alongside other glittering personal achievements.
- McTominay was named Serie A MVP for his contributions last season
- He netted 13 goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances
After such a stellar season, it’s no wonder that Everton are one of several clubs keeping tabs on him.
However, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, former Everton scout Bryan King believes the Toffees may need to wait until after the 2026 World Cup to put pen to paper.
“McTominay has done very well there at Napoli, but I certainly wouldn’t rule out a move for him to join Moyes and Everton,” King said.

“It would certainly be of interest to Moyes. But I can’t see him moving before the World Cup. He seems quite settled at Napoli.
“It’s an interesting one. I can’t see him moving in January, and I think the figure that they’ve put on him is more likely to be something that would happen after the World Cup.”
How has Scott McTominay performed this season?
While his 2024/24 season was impressive, his current form is a better indicator of the players the Toffees could sign.
Despite not being nearly as talked about, his start to the season hasn’t been all that bad, scoring that sensational overhead kick for Scotland versus Denmark.
Indeed, McTominay has also netted five goals and has provided two assists in 17 appearances for Napoli this season in Italy.
While a drop off from his last season, this is still a player who offers consistency and efficiency.
As a result, there’s every reason to suspect that McTominay would shine at the Hill Dickinson Stadium if signed.
